The atypical optically alive Pc-4 (neutral) and Pc-5 (ionic), zinc(II) phthalocyanines accepting four N-benzyl adequate l-prolinol assemblage were synthesized. l-prolinol has binucleophilic appearance and can be anchored to phthalonitrile acquired from both nitrogen and oxygen atoms. In adjustment to affected this botheration and to enhance the solubility of phthalonitrile (S)-(-)-3 and the ambition phthalocyanines, the nitrogen atom of l-prolinol was aboriginal adequate with benzyl chloride. All the compounds were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, MALDI–TOF MS, IR, UV–vis, and Circular Dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. Pc-4 is awful acrid in a lot of accepted amoebic solvents, admitting ionic Pc-5 is acrid in water. The CD after-effects showed that the chiral advice was transferred from the borderline chiral l-prolinol ancillary chains to the phthalocyanine chromophore at the atomic level.
